Colleagues
Colleague experience
Delivering a high quality of service for our customers depends on our ability to provide a positive working environment for our colleagues. As such, driving engagement, providing development opportunities, and ensuring all employees are treated fairly and given the support they require, are all key commitments for our business.
Our Employee Value Proposition (‘EVP’), Work. Win. Grow., was designed to capture every element of the employee journey. It is underpinned by our values and encapsulates the culture we want to foster at Rank. We have been working hard to weave the EVP throughout everything we do for our colleagues.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
We are focused on building the right culture and behaviours throughout Rank, making them part of everything we do. To foster an equal, diverse and inclusive working environment where everyone’s needs are supported, we have four stated aims against which we are continuously reviewing our progress. We take a global approach with an understanding there will be nuances by country given cultural differences.
- Deliver an inclusive and diverse environment that contributes to us being internally and externally recognised as an admired employer.
- Create a colleague experience that both attracts and retains talent regardless of our location.
- Ensure we continue to educate, grow, and develop our colleagues and that any perceived and/or actual barriers to career progression are removed.
- Make equality integral to how we do business.
Training and development
We want our colleagues to feel engaged and enjoy being part of the Group. Enabling development of new skills and broadening of knowledge is a crucial part of the colleague experience, as it allows individuals not only to excel in their roles but to also advance their own career goals. By developing our existing colleagues, we have a strong pool of candidates for internal promotion. At Rank, we provide a range of learning and development opportunities, including e-learning platforms, apprenticeships, and opportunities to undertake external courses.
The direction from our leadership is critical for the continued success of the business. Having experienced leaders equipped with the appropriate skills and understanding drives the business forwards, while developing a strong pipeline of talent secures our future success. Mentoring, skills reviews, development programmes, and succession planning all provide career advancement opportunities to encourage colleagues to grow within the business.
Engagement and reward
We are a globally diverse business with colleagues spanning various roles in land-based venues, field-based positions, and offices across several countries. Therefore, having effective and consistent means of communication with our colleagues, and a robust listening strategy that enables colleagues to be heard, are important ways we measure engagement and sentiment.
We utilise multiple engagement channels to make sure that every individual has the opportunity to feedback to the business on their experience. Our global communications and engagement platform, Connect, is available to all colleagues through an app or via the web. We conduct our Employee Opinion Survey twice annually, hold monthly Town Halls, have several different employee forums, and host employee listening sessions led by our designated Non-Executive Director (‘NED’) for workforce engagement.
Providing an attractive working environment, where colleagues are rewarded and recognised for their work, is crucial to being an admired employer. In addition to competitive and fair pay, benefits on offer focus on improving colleagues’ wellbeing. We continue to develop our offering, improving our ability to recognise where colleagues are outperforming and expanding the opportunities for providing recognition and reward.
Mental health and wellbeing
Delivering a great employee experience includes safeguarding our colleagues’ mental health and wellbeing. We want to provide a working environment that is both fun and supportive, so that colleagues are engaged, motivated, happy, and healthy at work. Our Employee Assistance Programme (‘EAP’), Be Supported, is provided by AXA Health, and includes an app designed to build positive new wellbeing habits into day-to-day life. Across our different locations, we also offer a range of wellbeing initiatives such as free breakfasts, yoga classes, sports tournaments, massages, and wellbeing check-ins.
